The Georgia Highlands College fans honored 6 sophomores on Sophomore Day at the Corral and the Chargers did not disappoint coming away with a 101-59 victory over ASA. GHC came out of the gate with a strong defensive effort in the first half to lead 58-36 at the end of the first half. Early in the second half Charger Sophomore Kyvon Davenport pulled down a offensive rebound and put the ball back up to score his 1,000 point in school history, becoming GHC’s first 1000 point scorer and all time leader in points scored and rebounds.
The Chargers continued their balance scoring attack with 5 players in double – digits led by Ty Cockfield with 22, Kamar McKnight with 17, Antiono Wade with 16 points, Donovan Ham with 12 points, and Rico Bonds with 10.
The Chargers (29-1) will return to action on Tuesday night at the Corral as they host the first round of the NJCAA Region XVII Tournament. They will play the winner of Monday nights match up of East Georgia College and Atlanta Metro College. Tip Off 7:30pm.
