Softball Bounces Back in Doubleheader Against Motlow State

Lynchburg, Tennessee.-

Sunday afternoon featured a doubleheader showdown between the Georgia Highlands College Lady Chargers and the Motlow State Community College Lady Bucks.

Game one opened up with Motlow State taking a three run lead which was left unanswered by the Lady Chargers until the top of the third inning. Motlow State went on to score five more unanswered runs making the final score 9-1 in six innings of play. Allison Daffron went two for two at the plate, and was scored on an RBI by Deyonce Lewis. 

Maggie Schandera toed the rubber for the Lady Chargers through the sixth inning, and then Montana Ledbetter finished the game. Heidi Durham got the start for the Lady Bucks allowing seven hits and one run over six innings, striking out one.

Game two was highlighted by a hitting show as well as a one hit shutout thrown by Madalyn Morton. Izzy Marcotte led the Lady Chargers offense driving in four runs and going 2-for-3 at the plate. Annsley Todd and Deyonce Lewis also had multiple hits on the day. Overall the Lady Chargers offense had nine hits and ten runs scored in the game, defeating the Motlow State Lady Bucks 10-0. 

Madalynn Morton pitched the entirety of the game allowing just two hits and zero runs, while striking out seven. Autumn Davis of the Lady Bucks threw four innings of the game and then Kendal and Loryn Sherwood entered the game as relief.

Coming up next the Georgia Highlands College Lady Chargers travel down to Gulf Shores, Alabama to compete in the Sun Chief Classic on Friday and Saturday.
