Softball Splits with Roane State
Cartersville, GA.- A rainy day double header turned into a split for the Lady Chargers of Georgia Highlands College. The Lady Chargers took on the Raiders of Roane State out of East Tennessee.
 
Game one resulted in a loss for the Chargers despite out hitting the Raiders 12 to eight. An untimely fourth inning resulted in 5 runs scored by the Raiders. Lacey Rutledge, Taryn Hitchcock, and Halie Walther led the offensive front for the Chargers combining for eight out of the 12 hits for the home team in game one.  
 
Montana Ledbetter toed the rubber for the Chargers in game one, for three and a third innings surrendering eight runs on six hits and striking out three. Madalyn Morton finished the remaining three and two-thirds innings on the rubber. Bradley for the Raiders toed the rubber for six and a third innings allowing three runs on ten hits.
 
Game two resulted in a show case of the long ball for the Lady Chargers. The third inning of the game was highlighted by an RBI from Deyonce Lewis, a homerun from Lacey Rutledge, and a grand slam by Izzy Marcotte. Haley Robinson added a homerun of her own in the fourth inning. Overall, the Lady Chargers smashed nine hits for a collective 13 runs, and went on to win the game 13 to five by run rule in the fifth inning. 
 
Maggie Schandera led the way on the rubber pitching all five innings allowing five runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking only one. Madi Lamon got the start for the raiders surrendering five runs on two hits over one and a third inning. Kara Bradley then came in and finished the game for the raiders.
 
The Lady Chargers will be back in action Sunday, February 9th in Lynchburg, Tennessee to take on the Bucs of Motlow State in a double hitter starting at 1PM & 3PM central time.
