BARNESVILLE, Ga. – Gordon State Softball had to wait an extra day to get back on the field after rain washed out Saturday's scheduled doubleheader. But the wait was worth it as the Highlanders extended their winning streak to 18 games with a 13-5, 5-3 sweep of Georgia Highlands College here Sunday afternoon.

With the pair of wins, GSC improves to 25-8 overall and 14-0 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) on deck next Saturday in Barnesville.

GSC used the long ball to power its way to a win in game one as Breanna Lee (Concord, Ga. / Pike Co. HS) and Jordyn Dobson (McDonough, Ga. / Union Grove HS) each hit a pair of homers.

Trailing 4-0 after the top of the first inning, GSC answered with three runs in the bottom half of the first and added six more in the second to take a 9-4 lead.

After GHC (8-17, 3-7) added a solo run in the third, GSC finished off the victory with four runs in the sixth.

Lee went 4-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored while Dobson also went 4-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored.

Makenzie English (Williamson, Ga. / Pike Co. HS) went 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored for the Highlanders.

Faith Hager (Madison, Ga. / Heritage HS) got off to a rocky start in the first inning as GHC scored four runs, but settled in and held the Chargers to a single run the rest of the way to get her 14th win in the circle this season.

Game two saw the two teams battled to a 3-3 tie after five innings, but GSC put two runs on the scoreboard in the sixth to break the tie and pitcher Bailey Odom (Danville, Ga. / Bleckley Co. HS) made it stand up with a scoreless seventh to get the win – her 10th of the season without a loss.

Kinsey Jones (Aragon, Ga. / Rockmart HS) led the offense by going 2-for-2 with a homer, two runs scored and an RBI while Camden Steele (Jackson, Ga. / Union Grove HS) went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Highlanders.
