Lady Pirates Drop Close Season Opener

Lady Pirates Drop Close Season Opener

The Lady Pirates kicked off the 2021 season with a slow start against Georgia Highlands (GHC). This combined with a struggling offense resulted in PSC being down by 12 going into halftime.

Pensacola found some life in the second half of the game and defensively utilized full court pressure to make it a game. Sophomore Khadija Chambless and freshman Aniyah Brown hit cruicial 3-pointers to cut down GHC's lead late in the 4th quarter and make it a two possession game.

Despite the defensive effort, the Lady Pirates fell short and lost 72-68.

Sophomore Tai'Sheka Porchia recorded a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Khadija Chambless was the high scorer with 19 points. Two other Lady Pirates scored in double figures, Aniyah Brown with 15 and sophomore Jordyn Neal with 10. Vernisha Robin chipped in 11 rebounds in 21 minutes of work.
