#3 Indians set to host the Chipola Classic this weekend

The Chipola men's basketball team will host two teams from Georgia and Panhandle Conference rival, Gulf Coast State College, this weekend at The Milt for the Chipola Classic.

The #3 nationally ranked Indians (8-1) will be looking to extend their 20-game home win streak when they face Georgia Highlands (4-4) on Friday night at 7 PM.

Chipola traveled to Rome, Georgia two weeks ago and defeated the Chargers on their home court, 102-64. Georgia Highlands is coming into the Classic having lost four of their last five games but defeated Eastern Florida State College, the only team to defeat the Indians this season, in their last game, 75-70.

On Saturday afternoon at 3 PM, the Indians will take on the Jets from South Georgia Technical College (6-3). After starting off their season 6-0, the Jets have dropped their last three games, all to FCSAA schools. Earlier this season, the Jets defeated top ten nationally ranked Shelton State Community College on the Bucs' home court, 85-81. South Georgia Tech is receiving votes in the NJCAA rankings.

The Commodores will take on South Georgia Tech at 5 PM on Friday and Georgia Highlands at 1 PM on Saturday. Gulf Coast is 8-1 on the season and tied for eighth in the FCSAA/Region VIII Coaches' Poll. Winners of their last three games, the Commodores' only loss was on the road in Macon, Georgia to Central Georgia Tech.
