Miller To Continue Career At Mercer University

Redshirt Freshman outfielder Zachary Miller, a West Virginia transfer, and Lawrenceville, GA native has signed to continue his career at Mercer University in the fall of 2018. The Mountain View High School product will leave junior college after one year to compete at the NCAA Division I level for his last three years of college eligibility.

The 6'4" speedster will look to be a key part of the Chargers lineup manning the outfield in his one and only year for the Chargers. At Mountain View, Zach was a four-time letterman on varsity. As a junior, Miller batted .308 with 33 hits, 16 RBI and scored 25 runs and stole 25 bases. His senior season was cut short due to injury. Perfect Game ranked him as the No. 26 outfielder in Georgia and No. 105 overall in the state in the 2016 class.

"Zach is a guy that will create a lot of havoc on the base path for opposing teams and pitchers. He's been clocked consistently in the 6.3-6.4 range in the 60-yard dash and can absolutely fly. This fall Zach routinely created runs for his teams in intrasquads due to his base running abilities. We look forward to Zach roaming the outfield for us and being a key part of helping our offense churn with his ability to get in scoring position and create runs." Head Coach Dash O'Neill on Miller.

Mercer University competes in the Southern Conference at the NCAA Division I level and are the reigning SoCon regular season champs.
