Bryson Horne took some time out this week to discuss his experience as a Georgia Highlands Baseball Player. Horne was a standout during his time in the blue and orange and had one of the best careers in Chargers history. For his career, Horne belted out a .345 batting average with 24 doubles, 8 home runs, and 76 RBI's. He also stole 17 bases as a Charger and was issued 63 free passes while being named an All-GCAA performer in his sophomore season.
Not only was Bryson a dominant force in the batter's box for GHC, he also played a big role in the Charger's defensive scheme, manning multiple positions as a sophomore. Charger Head Coach Dash O'Neill appreciated the big left handed hitter's versatility. "Bryson was a guy we relied on for his thunder at the dish, but also because of his versatility on defense. We were able to use him at first, second, and third base - sometimes in the same game,a nd even used him in the outfield on occasion."
When asked about Horne's impact on the team, O'Neill did not hold back on the praise. "I couldn't really say enough about Horne and what a tremendous young man and ballplayer he is. He has such high character and really exemplifies what it means to lead by example. This is a guy who would smash the league for a .400 batting average, switch positions on every hitter, hold up a 3.5 GPA, and give you the shirt off his back. We will never have another Bryson Horne, but I am excited that I get to watch him continue to tear it up down at CSU."
