Chargers Take Two From Stallions

GHC continued its GCAA Conference schedule on Tuesday, hosting Abraham Baldwin (ABAC) in a day/night doubleheader at Lakepoint.  Conner Perry took the ball for the Chargers, and after surrending 2 runs in the top the of the third inning, the right-hander settled in and pitched well.  Perry earned his 5th win of the season going 6.2 innings pitched, scattering 7 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5.  Brandon Prince and Connor Todaro each had 3 hits and 2 stolen bases in the game, and the pair scored 5 of the Chargers 7 runs.  Joe Sutton drove in 3 runs and in total 8 Chargers tallied base hits in the game.  Garrett Sagro picked up his 4th save of the year, entering the game with a 2 run lead and throwing the final 2.1 innings to seal the victory.

In game two a Joe Sutton home run gave GHC a first inning lead.  ABAC would answer in the top of the third inning with a run to tie things up at 1-1, but the Charger offense responded in the bottom half of the inning and pushed across 4 runs to regain the lead for good.  Trace Twardoski homered in the fifth inning to set the score at 6-1, and Chase Townsend threw a gem to secure a win in the night cap.  Townsend went the distance, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while fanning 6.  David Smith drove in two runs on a double and Connor Todaro, Palmer Sapp, Ben Olson, and Max Kops each added a hit in the contest.

The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday against Gordon State College for a GCAA doubleheader.  First pitch is at 1pm at Lakepoint.
