Charger Takes Season Series From Tigers

Riding the strength of a 26 run attack, the Chargers took the season series from Andrew College on Saturday 4 games to 2.  Johnny Dow earned his 6th win of the year tossing a complete game in the series clincher.  Dow allowed 1 run on 5 hits and struck out 5 Tigers in the contest.  Palmer Sapp got the scoring started with a first inning grand slam and then piled on another pair of RBI's with a double in a 3 run third inning.  A 10 run onslaught in the fifth inning put the Chargers up 17-1 where the score would stay until the game was ended early via the mercy rule.  Every Charger hitter tallied a hit in the ballgame, with Max Kops posting 5 base hits.  Sapp finished with 6 RBI's, Gaving Harmon added 4 of his own, and Sapp, Harmon, Twardoski, and David Smith each homered in the game.

The Chargers were poised to sweep the final doubleheader, but a series of defensive miscues lead to a late inning Tiger rally that eliminated a 7-1 seventh inning lead.  Chandler Wood took the loss after a lead off walk, a passed ball, and an error plated the game winnign run in the bottom of the ninth.

The Chargers move to 30-6 on the season and 9-3 in GCAA play.  They will host East Georgia College on Tuesday at 2PM at Lakepoint.
