Two of the top teams in the GCAA battled it out at the Corral on Saturday with the Chargers coming out with a 83-77 win over the Jets of South Georgia Tech. The Chargers came into the game with a one game lead in the conference standings with South Georgia Tech tied for second place in the GCAA. The game was as expected a close battle with 10 lead changes and the score tied 3 times. The Chargers extended their lead to 10 points with 3:08 to go in the first half but the Jets cut the lead to 4, 43-39 Chargers at the half. The Chargers and the Jets battled back and fourth throughout the second half, but it was the Chargers Khalyl Waters that the Chargers rode down the stretch for the win. Waters led the way with 11/16 from the field scoring 23 points, Chris Wright had 19 points and 5 assists, Derrick Cook had 14 points, and 7 rebounds, and Carl Johnson chipped in 10 points. With the win the Chargers go to (20-4, 8-2) in conference play. The Chargers travel to Waycross on Wednesday as they take on South Georgia State!
