Chargers Sweep Conference Opener against Gordon

Chargers Sweep Conference Opener against Gordon on Friday.  

Shay Sullins led game one with a complete game 1-0 shutout against the Highlanders.  Sullins scattered eight hits and three walks while striking out one.  Mya Adams (3-3, 2 SB, 1R) would lead the charger offense with a perfect 3 for 3 performance in game one while Shayla Smith (1-2, SF, RBI), Hannah Wills (1-1, BB, SH, SB), and Kendall Reeves (1-3) would record a hit a piece.  The Chargers lone run came in the bottom of the third when Adams would score from third on a sac fly by Smith.  The Charger defense would commit zero errors in the game.  

Game two also featured a post-season atmosphere as the Chargers came away with the 4-2 win.  Micayla McCoy would go the distance on the mound allowing two runs on nine hits and one walk, while striking out one.  The Chargers offense would pound out ten hits on the evening led by sophomore Alia Booth (2-3, BB, R) and freshman Kenzie Vanderhorst (2-3, 2B, 1 RBI).  Smith (2-4), Sally Fairbank (1-3, 2B, RBI), Mackenzy McFarland (1-3, 2B, RBI), and Reeves (1-3, 2B) would also contribute to the offensive attack.  Defensively, the Chargers would allow zero errors to complete the perfect fielding day.

The Charger Softball team is back at it Tuesday at 1pm & 3pm in Demorest, Georgia as they take on the Piedmont University JV.  Games will be livestreamed on Facebook.
