Georgia Highlands College Drops Two 1 Run Games at Lake Sumter
Georgia Highlands College drops two close one-inning games at Lake Sumter Community College for opening day of the 2019 season.
In the game one 3-2 loss, Kara Kight was 2 for 3 at the plate while pitching a complete game allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, on 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Jazzmyn Shelton and Alexis Davis also picked up their first hits for the 2019 season.
In Game two, the Chargers were in the lead going into the bottom of the 7th 7-6 before Lake Sumter went on a rally to steal the game 8-7. Kayla Phillips would take the loss allowing 8 runs, only one was earned, on 6 walks and 3 strikeouts. Kight stayed hot in the batters box going 2-4. Kayla Laukka, Sierrah Gani, Jazzmyn Shelton, and Alexis Davis also picking up two hits in the outing. Kayla Laukka would also pick up the first homerun of the season, a solo shot in the 4th inning.
Next up for the Chargers (0-2), they will head south to the JUCO Kickoff Classic where they will take on Puerto Rico and Daytona State.
