Behind Destiny Marshall's 23 points the Lady Chargers stormed to a 76-42 win over the Lady Cougars of Cleveland State in the opening day of the Georgia Highlands Classic. The Lady Chargers got out to a 18-14 point lead to end the first period, but it was the second period when GHC turned up the defensive pressure and held the Lady Cougars to only 4 points in the second period to the end the first half with a 28-18 lead. The Lady Chargers forced 33 turnovers and out rebounded Cleveland State 44 to 24 in route to the win.
Jahnarria Brown added a double - double 17 points and 10 rebounds, Jessica Eadsforth Yates added 11 points and 6 assists, and Sharai Lay had her third double - double of the season with 10 points and 14 rebounds. The Lady Chargers (5-1, 2-0 in conference play) will return to action tomorrow at the Corral versus #9 Walters State, tip off 6:00pm.
