Former Charger Ryan Wideman Selected by Padres in Third Round of MLB Draft

Two-time NJCAA All-American former Charger Ryan Wideman was selected in the third round this evening in the 2025 MLB Draft.  The Sand Diego Padres selected the standout after a banner year at Western Kentucky University where Wideman collected his third consecutive All American nod.  Chargers head coach Dash O'Neill was not surprised to hear Wideman's name called on day one of the draft.  "I knew from the first time I saw Ryan that he was special.  I really thought he should've been taken out of here, but it was easy to see after the season he had at WKU that this was coming.  I couldn't be more proud of him, and I am excited to continue to follow his career.  Don't be suprised if you see him playing on TV some day soon."
