Georgia Highlands College men’s basketball edged Albany Tech 86–83 on Saturday in Rome, earning a critical conference win. The victory moves the Chargers to 5–7 in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association play, while the Titans drop to 7–5 with four regular-season games remaining before the GCAA Tournament.
GHC nearly surrendered a 13-point halftime advantage after a first half that featured several lead changes and a brief three-point edge for Albany Tech midway through the period. The Chargers responded with a barrage of three-pointers to take command, extending their lead to as many as 15 early in the second half.
Albany Tech mounted a late charge, trimming the deficit and threatening to complete the comeback in the final four minutes. But Georgia Highlands held firm, knocking down key free throws in the closing moments to secure the pivotal conference win.
Braylen Smith (Augusta Christian) paced the Chargers with 24 points, while Justen Goudelock (Athens Academy) added 21. Josh Bryant (Dominion Christian) contributed a strong performance with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
The Chargers return to action Monday night, traveling to Albany Tech for a makeup game from earlier in the season.
