Georgia Highlands College softball opened up the season at the newly-christened Carol Brown Field with a sweep of visiting Gadsden State, 11-7 and 9-3, respectively.
In the first game, Ahmani Green (Worth Co. HS) opened up the scoring in the 1st inning by blasting a 2-out homer to left-center field, and Chloe Fowler (Eagles Landing Chr.) followed up later in the inning with an RBI single. Two innings later the Chargers would put up 8 runs to break it wide open.
In the nightcap, GHC found themselves behind early, but they used a 3-run 3rd inning to notch it up. In the 4thGreen broke up the tie with a 2-run, 2-out double, and Cayden Warren (East Paulding HS) would add a single to bring Green home.
The Chargers return to action Tuesday with a doubleheader against Coastal Alabama. Game 1 is slated to start at 1pm at Carol Brown Field.
