Chargers get win at home over Denmark Tech

The Chargers got out to a fast start to open the game on a 13-2 run and held on for a 93-82 home win over the Panthers Denmark Tech. Denmark Tech pulled back even late in the second half but the Chargers hit a three at the buzzer to end the first half and go yp 46-43. The Panthers took the lead early in the second half 53-50 but the Chargers went on a 16-2 run late in the second half and pulled away for the 11 point win.

The Chargers had 5 players in double digits led by sophomore D'Andre Bernard with 20 points and 11 rebounds, TaJuan Johnson had 18 points, 4 assists, and 6 steals,Khalyl Waters had 15 points, Jeremiah Buford 13 points, and Shane Linton-Brown had 10 points.

"We were playing short handed tonight with two of our guards out for tonight game, but our guys stepped up and I am proud of how they fought to pull away in the end," said Charger Head Coach Phil Gaffney.

The Chargers 2-2 on the season retun to the Corral tomorrow for a 3:00pm tip-off versus Cafe Fear College. The Lady Chargers will have the home season opener at the Corral following the men's game . Tip off for the women is 5:00pm.
