After important GCAA wins for both teams, the Chargers swept the GCAA Player of the Week honors for both men's and women's basketball for the week of Jan 20, 2020.
On the women's side, Sasha Shishkina earned the honor by scoring 23 points, and grabbing 4 rebounds & 2 steals in the Lady Chargers win over East Georgia State College on Saturday.
Sasha is the second Lady Charger to earn the honor this season with Ja'Lyn Reese earning the honor earlier this season. With their 75-64 win over East Gerogia, the Lady Chargers now sit at 12-8 on the season and 8-2 in the GCAA, putting them in second-place.
For the men, Trevin Wade earned his second Player of the Week honor for the season. Wade averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 2 conference wins for the Chargers last week. The honor is the 4th in the last 5 weeks for a GHC men's player. In addition to Trevin (twice), Cahiem Brown and Langston Wilson have also been honored for their stellar play for the first-place Chargers. The two wins extend GHC's winning streak to 13. They sit at 16-4 overall and alone in first place at 7-0.
Both teams return home this Wednesday, January 31 against Central Georgia Technical College. The women tip at 5:30PM with the men following at 7:30PM.
