CARTERSVILLE, Ga-- Sophomore right handed pitcher Tyler Sellers has signed with Georgia College and State University. The Locust Grove High School product will move onto GCSU in the fall of 2018 to continue his academic and baseball career.
Sellers was the "fireman" on the pitching staff this past spring for the Chargers. It was a role in which Tyler put up a very good season on the way to helping the Chargers earn The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament Title. Sellers successful campaign saw him log 17 appearances (second best on the team) while compiling a 4-0 record with 3 saves, and 1 completed game in 2 starts for the Chargers. Tyler also logged a 2.45 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 33.0 innings pitched.
Head Coach Dash O'Neill stated this about Sellers, "Tyler is going to be a great addition to the staff at Georgia College. He is a tremendous competitor, that brings a hard nosed personality to the rubber every time he toes it. He succeeded in a multitude of roles for us last year and was a huge reason for our success and there is no doubt it will be the same for us this year. Tyler has a bright future ahead of him and will help Georgia College once he arrives there next fall."
Georgia College and State University competes at the NCAA Division II in the Peach Belt Conference and are the reigning 2017 Peach Belt Tournament Champions. GCSU also qualified for the Southeast Regional. The Peach Belt conference is strongly considered as one of the best conferences at the NCAA Division II level.
