Originally scheduled for Saturday, the Chargers split the first two games of a three game series with Lincoln Trail College on Sunday. Drew Wilson was excellent for 5 innings, striking out 5 while allowing just one run on 5 hits and a walk, but he left game one locked in a 1-1 tie. The Chargers threatened by reaching base in both the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings, but they could not capitalize on the opportunities and Lincoln Trail pushed 4 runs across in the top of the ninth to hand GHC their 4th loss of the season.
Tyler Sellers took the ball in the second game of the doubleheader and proved to be just what the Chargers needed to get back on track. The sophomore right-hander allowed 3 unearned runs on 3 hits, 1 walk, while striking out 7 en route to his second victory of the season. Skylar McPhee paced the offense, going 2-3 with a double, a home run, and 2 RBIs. Parker Orr also homered in the game, and Zach Miller had a pair of hits in the game. Noah Bryant closed out the game in the seventh to earn his first save of the season.
The Chargers move to 7-4 on the season heading into the third and final game of the series on Monday. First pitch is at 12PM at LakePoint.
