The Charger baseball team entered Monday looking to earn a series victory and second straight win over Lincoln Trail Callege. "We knew coming in to the ballgame today that these guys would be tough, so we needed Norty [Matthew Norton] to be sharp and give us a chance," said Chargers skipper Dash O'Neill after the game. "Brady and McPhee had some big hits for us, and we played with alot of intensity today. Those guys [Lincoln Trail] are a very good offensive club and well coached, so I'm happy that we were able to come out and take the series."
Matthew Norton gave O'Neill the start he asked for, striking out 5 and surrendering 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks to earn his first win of the season. Kevin Barham, Jacob Henley, and Noah Bryant were dominant in relief, with Bryant claiming his second save in as many days. Skylar McPhee and Blake Brady each had 2 hits in the game to lead the offense.
The Chargers, now 8-4, will be back in action in on Thursday as they Welcome Shorter University and Emmanuel College in for a doubleheader at LakePoint. The game versus Shorter will begin at 12PM and the nightcap will start at 4PM.
