Georgia Highlands pounded out 13 extra base hits in a doubleheader sweep of visiting Brewton Parker on Wednesday night, including 5 home runs. Lavoisier Fisher hit the first two home runs of his GHC career, blasting a pitch over the center field wall in game 1 and using his speed to tally an inside the park home run in game 2. Blake Brady hit his first round tripper of the season and drove in 5 on the evening, while Malik Spratling hit his first home run of 2019, and Bryson Horne hit his 3rd homer of the season.
Jacob Meyer picked up the win in game 1, whiffing 3 in 4 innings of work, and Logan Ward converted his 3rd save of the year. Casey Thurmond got credit for the win in game two after twirling 2 perfect innings with 4 strikeouts in his first appearance since returning from an injury in 2018. The victories move the CHargers to 7-1 on the season, with 3 series left to go before they open conference play in March.
The Chargers will host Walters State this weekend in a three game set at Lakepoint. The doubleheader has been moved to Saturday at noon to try and avoid any potentially inclement weather, and Sunday's game is now a single 9 inning affair.
