The GHC Chargers added to their program record winning streak on Saturday when they defeated the visiting Gordon State Highlanders 10-0 in the first game of a GCAA doubleheader. The win was the Chargers' 15th in a row, surpassing their previous record of 11 straight wins in 2017. Johnny Dow scattered 8 hits in a complete game shutout of the Highlanders, and the big righthander struck out 8 on the day to improve his record to 5-0 in 2021. The Charger bats poured on the offense, hammering out 12 hits including back to back homers by Max Kops and Brandon Prince. David Smith had 3 hits in the ballgame while Palmer Sapp and Prince each had a pair in the game.
GHC's bats would stay hot in the second game, but they were not able to put it together managing 3 runs on 12 hits while allowing the Highlanders to score 10 runs on 16 hits and 4 walks. Jacob Ryan took the loss, and Chargers lost their 4th game of the season to move their record to 28-4.
They will be back in action on Tuesday against Andrew College at 2PM at Lakepoint.
