The 2022 edition of Charger baseball hit the ground running, opening the season with a three game sweep of visiting Chattanooga State. The Chargers steamrolled their way to 32 runs in the series, and tossed their first shutout of the year.
Ben Olson hit .444 in the series, hammering his 3rd home run of the season in the process and driving in 3 runs. Parker Poteet drove in 7 runs over the weekend to lead the Chargers in run production, and Caden Smith blasted a pair of home runs to push his tally up to 4 in the new campaign.
Conner Perry tossed GHC's first shutout of 2022, holding the Tigers to just 2 hits while striking out 7 in game two of the series. Gage Vailes and Eric Moore were both solid in their starts, picking up wins for their effort and Cason Rich and Chandler Wood each collected saves out of the bullpen.
The Chargers, now 5-0 on the season will be back in action Monday at Lakepoint as they host Point university in a non conference doubleheader. First pitch is at 1PM.
