GHC has surged out of the gate to an 11-0 record after sweeping a three game weekend series against Lincoln Trail and a weekday game against Cleveland State.
The Chargers held Lincoln Trail scoreless for the first two games of the series, winning in a pair of shutouts 10-0 and 5-0. Gage Vailes and Eric Moore were superb in their starts to earn their second win each on the year. Conner Perry claimed the win in game three on the bump while Zach Murray, Caleb Garner, Cason Rich picked up holds and Chandler Wood closed out his second save of 2022. Conner Todaro and David Smith tallied their first home runs of the season and Caden Smith belted his 5th to pace the offense.
Against Cleveland State Jacob Ryan was stellar holding the Cougars to 1 unearned run over 5.2 innings of work. Baylor Akin and Hunter Goodwin shut down Cleveland in the 7th and 8th innings and Zachary Murray put things to bed in the ninth. Caden Smith did most of the damage in the 7-1 victory, hammering a pair of doubles and a triple on the day.
The 11-0 Chargers are back in action this week as they host USC Salkehatchie in a three game series on Friday and Saturday. The games will be played at Pickens High School in Jasper, GA.
