Georgia Highlands College women hang on for a 71-64 GCAA conference win at home over Atlanta Metro College. Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half. With the game tied at 15 with 6:22 left in the first period Lady Charger's Kateryna Khomenko hit a two in the paint, and then stole the ball and hit a three pointer to push GHC's led to 22-15. However the Lady Trailblazers of Atlanta Metro battled and kept the game close with the Lady Chargers leading 39-33 at the half.
To start the second half both teams traded baskets throughout. Atlanta Metro won the battle on the boards, out re-bounding GHC 58-49 and forcing 24 turnovers, but the Lady Chargers found a way to get the 7 point win.
The Lady Chargers were led by sophomore Kateryna Khomenko with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Ozahria Fisher had 12 points and 12 assists. Witht he win GHC goes to (6-3) on the year and (2-0) in GCAA Conference play. The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday as they travel to South Georgia Tech. Tip off 1:00pm.
