The Lady Chargers returned to the Corral on Wednesday to take on the East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats in GCAA action. East Georgia posed another good matchup for the Chargers, coming in with a 4-1 overall record and 3-0 in the GCAA.

The first quarter was evenly played with neither team able to build a lead and the Chargers led 19-17 at the end of the 1st. Behind 13 points and 3-4 three-point shooting from Sasha Shishkina, the Ladies were able to build a 9-point lead and head into the half up 42-33. Out of the break it looked like GHC would run away with the game. They outscored the Lady Bobcats 23-18 in the 3rd to build an 65-51 lead. Three minutes into the 4th and the lead was 22. The rout was on. But East Georgia didn’t quit and fought back over the next 4 minutes, cutting the lead to 6 with 3 minutes left in the quarter. The Chargers were able to regroup though and thanks to some clutch shooting were able to ultimately prevail 85-77.

Shishkina led the Lady Chargers for the game with 21 points. She also grabbed 4 boards. Jahnaria Brown rebounded from a down Thanksgiving tournament to score 19 and grab 8 rebounds. O’Mariyah Tucker notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Nijeria Jordan added 13 points, Sandra Lin dished out 7 assists, and Lucy Threlfell added 8 points off the bench.

The win brings GHC’s season record to 5-5 (3-1 in GCAA). The team travels to Macon on Friday to take on Central Georgia Technical college before returning home on December 11 to take on Andrew College.
