Chargers Outscore Opponents 32-2 in Opening Day of GHC Border Battle

The Chargers would outscore opponents 32-2 on the day as the Chargers would sweep Day 1 of the GHC Border Battle.  

In the 11-2 game one mercy-rule against Spartanburg Methodist, Kara Kight would pick up her third win improving her record to 3-1 on the young season.  Kara threw the complete game, allowing 2 runs, 3 hits, 3 walks, and sitting down 5.  Offensively, the Chargers were led by Sierrah Gani who was 3-3, and Kara Kight and Kayla Laukka who were both 2-3 on the game.  Deyonce Lewis would pick up her first homerun of the season with a solo blast to right center.  The Chargers would also combine for 5 stolen bases in the outing.

The Chargers would defeat Harford Community College 21-0 and Kayla Phillips would improve her record to 2-2 on the season throwing three innings, allowing zero runs on 4 hits and one walk.  Haley Robinson would complete the game, earning her first save in her first collegiate pitching outing, throwing two innings, allowing no runs, on one hit, and three strikeouts.  Haley Robinson also helped her cause in the batters box hitting the first grand slam of the 2019 season in her only at-bat.  Kayla Laukka and Lexi Palazzo also had homerunsuns in the outing.

The Chargers return tomorrow for their second day of the GHC Border Battle taking on Calhoun Community College and Cleveland State.
