The Chargers traveled to Marianna, Florida to take on Gulf Coast College in the Panhandle Classic Basketball tournament and fall to Gulf Coast in a close one 65-63. Both teams had a tough night offensively shooting 8/26 from the field in the first half versus Gulf coast shooting 11/31. Both teams traded baskets throughout the night keeping the game close. Gulf Coast won the battle of the boards with 39 to GHC's 28.
"We had a great effort tonight from our guys, but fell a bit short to a good 10-1 Gulf Coast team," said Charger head coach Phil Gaffney. The Chargers had 4 players in double digits in scoring, led by Jeremiah Buford with 17, followed by Khalyl Watters with 12, TaJuan Johnson and DeMarkus Addie with 10.
The Chargers (4-5) return to action tomorrow in the second round of the Panhandle Classic as they take on Chipola College, tip off 4:00pm EST.
