Chargers come from behind to defeat Gordon State

The Chargers down by as many as 12 points find a way and come back for a 77-70 conference win over the Highlanders of Gordon State College. Gordon State opened the game with 10-2 run but the Chargers fought back to take their first lead at the 5:50 mark of the first half 25-24. Gordon State got back on top to take a 38-34 lead into the half.

Gordon State came out in the second half with a great defensive effort to extend the lead to their largest of the night 52-40 with 14:24 to go. GHC got a spark coming off the bench with Sandro Noel, Noel had 10 points in only eleven minutes of play to give GHC the lead 60-59 with 7:21 remaining. With the game tied at 68 with 1:34 to go the Chargers DeMarcus Addie hit a 3 with the shot clock expiring to give GHC a 71-68 lead and pulled away for the win.

"This was a great comeback, we were down by 12 and ended up winning by 7." "Sandro Noel gave us a great blast off the bench with 10 points and great energy", said Chargers head coach Phil Gaffney.

The Chargers had 5 players in double digits led by DeMarcus Addie and Jeremiah Buford with 17 points each, TaJuan Johnson with 12, and Sandro Noel and D'Andre Benard with 10 points each. GHC was also perfect at the free throw line going 11/11.

The Chargers 18-7, (12-1) return to action at the Corral on Saturday versus East Georgia State. Ladies tip off at 2:00pm followed by the men at 4:00pm. We will also be honoring our Sophomores who will be leaving us at the end of the year.
